Boston; Bowles and Dearborn, 1827. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. SECOND EDITION. John G. Palfrey was a Unitarian minister who played a leading role in the early history of the Harvard Divinity School. He also served as a state representative and U.S. congressman for Massachusetts. 16mo. Very good. Beige cloth backed blue paper covered boards. Minor browning to edges of boards and to spine. Bumping to spine ends and corners. Two small closed tears and one small hole to cloth. Minor rubbing to exterior. "392" written in red pen on front pastedown. Light browning and foxing throughout, though text remains bright. Untrimmed page edges. Inscription to front free end paper reads: "Rev. Dr. Gray, from his friend + brother, the Author."
