New York, Random House, (1957). FIRST EDITION, EARLY PRINTING. Very good+ in Very good dust jacket. 4to. Folio. Green and red illustrated paper covered boards with white title to front board and to spine. Bumping to corners and spine ends. Previous owner's name written in pencil to front paste down front free end page and to half title page. Minor smudge to top corner of one page. Else is clean and bright with wonderful illustrations throughout. Red and green illustrated PRICE CLIPPED dust jacket with white title to front and spine panels. Wear to dust jacket includes creasing to edges, three closed tears between 1 and 2 inches long to the hinges (which have now been repaired with archival tape), minor rubbing, and remnants of the previous owner's name in pencil to front panel. All first issue points are present including 13 books listed at the back of the book and the advertisement for The Cat in the Hat with the correct price of $2.00 on the rear board. The price clipped dust jacket has 16 books listed on the rear flap. Dust jacket is in a protective sleeve.
