Green cloth covered boards with gilt and black title and decoration to front board and to spine. Wear to exterior includes bumping to edges, rubbing, tear to cloth at rear hinge, minor chipping to spine ends, small ink stain to bottom edge of both boards and text block, one larger as well as two small ink stains to rear board, and slight rolling to spine. Both hinges are cracked and there is one minor split at interior. Binding remains strong. Rear free end paper is partially loose at top half. Small ink stain to bottom margin of front end papers, frontispiece, and tissue guard. Very small ink stain to the bottom edge of a few additional pages. Ownership inscription to verso of frontispiece. Damp staining to rear end papers. Minor foxing throughout though text and illustrations remain bright. 129 beautiful illustrations by Riou. 269 pages.
